The short version: Analog Journal is a completely offline app. We don't collect, store, transmit, or have access to any of your data. Everything stays on your device.

2.1 Information You Provide (Stored Locally Only)
- Film Roll Data: Information about your film rolls, including film type, ISO, brand, number of shots, and development status.
- Camera Data: Information about your cameras, including make, model, type, and lens information.
- Shot Data: Details about individual photos, including aperture, shutter speed, lens focal length, and any notes you add.
- Location Data (Optional): You can choose how to add location to your shots:
- Precise GPS: Automatically capture exact GPS coordinates where the photo was taken
- Approximate Location: Use a less precise location for privacy
- Manual Entry: Manually enter location name or description without GPS
- No Location: Skip location tracking entirely
2.2 What We Do NOT Collect
- No Device Information: We do not collect any information about your device, operating system, or hardware.
- No Usage Analytics: We do not track how you use the app or collect usage statistics.
- No Personal Information: We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any other personal identifiers.
- No Internet Connection: The app works completely offline and does not communicate with any servers.
3. How We Use Your Information
Since Analog Journal is completely offline, your data is used only by you, on your device, for the following purposes:
- Track and organize your film rolls, cameras, and shots
- Store metadata about your analog photography workflow
- Help you remember details about each photo you take
- Export your data as a backup in JSON format for safekeeping
We do not have access to your data, period. Everything stays on your device.
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 100% Local Storage
All your data (film rolls, cameras, shots, location data, and notes) is stored exclusively on your device using an SQLite database. Your data:
- Never leaves your device
- Is not transmitted to our servers (we don't have any servers)
- Is not shared with any third parties
- Is not backed up to cloud services by the app
- Remains completely private and under your control
4.2 Data Export (Backup)
You can export your data at any time in JSON format as a backup file. This export:
- Is saved directly to your device's storage
- Contains all your film photography data in a portable format
- Can be used to restore your data if needed
- Remains under your complete control
- Is never sent to us or any third party
4.3 Security Measures
Since the app is completely offline and doesn't transmit data, your information is as secure as your device. We recommend:
- Using device-level security (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint authentication)
- Keeping your device operating system updated
- Regularly backing up your device data (including app data) through your device's backup system
- Storing exported JSON backups in a secure location
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do NOT collect, access, or share ANY of your data.
Since Analog Journal is a completely offline application:
- We have no servers to store your data
- We have no way to access your data
- We cannot share your data with anyone because we don't have it
- Your data never leaves your device unless you manually export it
There are no circumstances under which we would share your data with third parties, simply because we never have access to it in the first place.
6. Location Data
Analog Journal offers flexible location tracking options to help you remember where each photo was taken. You have complete control:
6.1 Location Options
- Precise GPS Location: Automatically capture exact GPS coordinates when adding a shot
- Approximate Location: Use a less precise location for better privacy
- Manual Entry: Type in a location name or description without using GPS at all
- No Location: Choose not to record any location information
6.2 How Location Data is Handled
- Location data is only collected when you add a new shot and choose to include location
- GPS coordinates are stored exclusively on your device as part of your shot metadata
- Location data is never transmitted to our servers or any third parties
- You can change location settings at any time in the app or your device settings
- You can edit or delete location data for individual shots whenever you want
- The app will ask for location permission only if you choose to use GPS-based location tracking
7. Children's Privacy
Analog Journal is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete such information.
8. Third-Party Services
Analog Journal is a completely standalone, offline application. We do not integrate with:
- Analytics services
- Advertising networks
- Cloud storage services
- Social media platforms
- Any other third-party services that collect or process data
The app does not connect to the internet and does not communicate with any external servers.
9. Your Rights and Choices
You have complete control over all your data since it's stored only on your device:
- Access: View all your data within the App at any time
- Export: Export your complete database as a JSON backup file
- Delete: Delete individual entries (shots, rolls, cameras) or uninstall the App to remove all data
- Modify: Edit any information you've entered at any time
- Location Control: Choose between precise GPS, approximate location, manual entry, or no location for each shot
- Disable Location: Change location settings in the app or revoke location permissions in your device settings
Since we don't collect your data, you don't need to request anything from us. You have direct control over everything.
10. Data Retention
Your data is retained on your device until you choose to delete it or uninstall the App. When you uninstall Analog Journal, all locally stored data will be permanently removed from your device.
11. International Users
Analog Journal can be used anywhere in the world. Since the app is completely offline and all data is stored only on your device, there are no international data transfers, no server locations to consider, and no jurisdictional issues. Your data stays with you, wherever you are.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes:
- The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy will be revised
- Significant changes will be communicated through the App or our website
- Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
